This unique canard
displays fantastic smooth flight characteristics only associated with a
model built to an exemplary standard.
Manufactured to a very
high quality, all balsa, light ply and fibreglass construction.
Best of all, an affordable radio controlled canard for the intermediate
pilot who loves flying quality models!
May be one of the most smart and smooth model
airplane. The Long EZ is a stand off scale model of genius Burt Rutan
famous homebuilt! All wood construction features the canard wing. In
addition to it being a fast and efficient airplane, the canard design
makes the plane stall resistant.
When the Long EZ begins to stall, it drops its
nose, gains speed and begins to fly again
Combine outstanding performance with ultra modern
styling, this plane will get lots of attention at the flying field. The
pusher design might also be a good candidate for aerial photography. The
cameras view will not be obstructed by the engine and pro
TIPS & ADVICE
1. Follow the throws recommended, 1/4" up and down
for elevator (make sure its backwards compared to a traditional plane,
that means by pulling the stick back the elevator goes down NOT
up) -40% to -60% expediential, 3/8" aileron with -25% to -40%
expediential.
2. Setup the Canard so the trailing edge is flush with the bottom of the
leading edge.
3. Make sure the CG is measured with a full tank at the CG point or
slightly ahead. You will feel like it's a lot of weight, but you will be
happy when its in the air
4. Take off with half a tank and don't stay up too long.
5. If on grass, put on 3" foam wheels
ELECTRIC CONVERSION
This conversion was a breeze. We used a 2826/12 AXI
motor with a 12 X 8 APC E Prop. We run a 4 cell 4400mAh Flight Power
battery. It weighs in right at 6 pounds. The manufacturer give you a
weight to put in the nose for the glow version, but with the AXI in the
back, it's so much lighter than a glow motor that you do not need to add
any weight. We used an 1800mAh flight pack battery and put that in the
nose instead. Doing that allowed the battery to be placed right on the
CG underneath the canopy. It fly's great and has a ton of power. It does
great loops and has a very nice axial roll rate. Inverted flight only
requires a touch a down elevator. It just looks so cool in the air. Let
me know if you have any other questions or need anything else.
Also available in a smaller 380 electric size and a massive 97" 120/160
size. See the EZ family
